CON 100: Shaping Smart Business Arrangements In this training course, personnel newly assigned as GS-1102 Contract Specialists will obtain a broad, comprehensive understanding of the environment in which they will serve. Students will develop professional skills for making business decisions and advising other acquisition team members toward success in meeting customers' needs. Participation in small group simulation exercises will prepare students to provide contracting support within the overarching business relationships of government and industry and the political roles and relationships required. This course is certified equivalent to DAU’s CON 100: Shaping Smart Business Arrangements.
CON 110: Mission Support Planning This training course is designed for personnel new to the contracting workforce and for non-contracting personnel who play a role in contract formation. Students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to execute an acquisition that optimizes customer mission performance. Students will learn basic procedures for acquisition of both commercial and noncommercial requirements, effectively conduct price analysis to determine when a price is fair and reasonable, conduct basic competitive acquisitions, process awards, and handle protests before and after contract award. This course is certified equivalent to DAU’s CON 111: Mission Strategy Execution.
CON 111: Mission Strategy Execution This training course is designed for personnel new to the contracting workforce or for non-contracting personnel who play a role in contract administration. This training course builds on the knowledge and skills acquired in CON 110 and CON 111. Students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to use appropriate performance metrics when evaluating contractor performance, and to work with their customers to ensure contract performance is satisfying mission needs. Students will also explore assessment strategies and performance remedies, how to make and price contract modifications, deal with disputes, and close out completed contracts. This course is certified equivalent to DAU’s CON 112: Mission Performance Assessment.
CON 112: Mission Performance Assessment This training course is designed for personnel new to the contracting workforce or non-contracting personnel who play a role in the acquisition process. Students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the specific duties required for effective mission support planning. This course is certified equivalent to DAU’s CON 110: Mission Support Planning.
CON 120: Mission Focused Contracting This capstone training course completes the mandatory FAC-C Level I certification courses. The course spans the entire acquisition process from mission support planning through contract closeout. Use of integrated case studies provides students the opportunity to apply leadership, problem solving, and negotiation skills plus the knowledge and skills they have gained in this and the prerequisite courses. This course is certified equivalent to DAU’s CON 120: Mission Focused Contracting.
CON 202: Intermediate Contracting This intermediate training course is designed for GS-1102 Contract Specialists and others who are beginning their mandatory FAC-C Level II certification training. Contracting personnel will gain the skills to perform critical duties required to plan for complex acquisitions and evaluate, award, and administer complex contracts. Students will explore further the competencies introduced in the Level I courses. This course is certified equivalent to DAU’s CON 202: Intermediate Contracting.
CON 204: Intermediate Contract Pricing This intermediate level course builds on the pricing skills covered in the FAC-C Level I certification curriculum. Through group case studies, students will apply techniques to handle more complex pricing situations. This course is ideal for contracting personnel, cost/price analysts, and other government personnel involved in analysis and pricing of contract actions. Industry financial or contracting personnel may also find this course beneficial. Students will use computers to aid in analysis. This course is certified equivalent to DAU’s CON 204: Intermediate Contract Pricing.
CON 210: Government Contract Law–Accelerated During this FAC-C Level II certification training course, experienced contracting personnel will gain comprehensive knowledge of principles of government contract law, their impact on government acquisitions, and the skills to apply these principles to reach sound business judgments. Legal principles will be introduced and discussed, followed by analysis of actual cases that illustrate those principles from the Comptroller General, boards of contract appeals, and courts. This course is certified equivalent to DAU’s CON 210: Government Contract Law.
CON 214: Business Decisions for Contracting This initial FAC-C and DAWIA Level II training course builds on the Level I pre-award business and contracting knowledge necessary to process complex procurements. The emphasis of this course is on planning successful mission support strategies and executing an acquisition that optimizes customer mission performance. Students will learn the techniques for building successful business relationships, the benefits of strategic sourcing, and the intricacies of contract financing. Students will also develop an in-depth knowledge of subcontracting, source selection, and contractor responsibility.
CON 215: Intermediate Contracting for Mission Support This FAC-C and DAWIA Level II mandatory training course is for contracting personnel with either FAC-C or DAWIA Level I Contracting ertification or two years of contracting experience. Students will put into practice the knowledge and skills gained in CON 214 and the Level I contracting courses by working in teams on an in-depth contract case study. This hands-on case study helps students develop critical thinking skills, customer needs analysis, procurement strategy development, and source selection skills necessary for successful contract performance.
CON 353: Advanced Business Solutions for Mission Support This 10-day training course is designed for contracting professionals who work, or are expecting to work, in positions requiring unlimited contracting officer warrants, FAC-C or DAWIA Level III certification. Through realistic scenario-based learning, students are provided the opportunity to work individually and in teams to practice developing sound business solutions as a valued strategic and expert business advisor. This course is certified equivalent to DAU's CON 353: Advanced Business Solutions for Mission Support.
